…And then he said, “Step out of the boat.” What a request this Pastor Bryan was telling me! Step out onto unfamiliar territory? Maybe I will; maybe I won’t. This is by far one of the scariest things we as Christians have to do in life; to trust God and to trust that he will guide us through the unfamiliar. Stepping out of the boat means to trust God and trust that he will sustain you when you start to sink. This mission trip for me is just that; a means to trust God when doubt has been a close friend of mine. My name is Orlando Castañeda and this will be the first time I participate in this type of mission trip. I have participated in mission trips before, but never to this degree. What the England mission trip means to me is a rejuvenation of that giving spirit that we are called to have. It is the ability to serve my lord in a way I have never thought possible. This will be the first time I will be outside of the U.S. other than Mexico, and it is a bit scary. Also, it’s my first time flying. Pray for me. . Stepping out of the boat is scarier than staying in it, but I know my God is waiting for me with outstretched arms; ready for me to take hold when I get that sinking feeling.
