VBS Day 2

VBS Day 2

Here’s the attendance report:
Day 1 site 1-17, site 2-5, site 3-2
Day 2 site 1-23, site 2-7, site 3-5
At first I hesitated to give you these numbers. We can certainly get wrapped up in them, you know, bigger is better. You know that we would rejoice if we were able to share the gospel with only one child, but I was so encouraged that every child came back and several brought friends.  What this represents is a genuine enthusiasm for the program that we are presenting. It means that our youth have made a connection and the children feel loved and want to be a part of this VBS. It means the prayers we have covered this area with for weeks are bearing fruit, and we rejoice.
Today we have the opportunity in our Bible lesson to make salvation bracelets. This is a tangible reminder of God’s great love and gift to us. These children will take these home and remember this story long after we are gone. We may not see the fruit of our sacrifice of time and love, but I am convinced that the faithful obedience of our youth will plant the seeds that will fall on fertile soil. Please pray for this wonderful opportunity. Pray that we will have even more that will come for this divine appointment.
After our VBS we loaded the vans and headed for the Lincoln Park Zoo in downtown Chicago. This beautiful zoo sits right in the middle of the city and is a jewel. It was a hot, but welcome respite.
This was also the night that we honor our seniors. We got dressed up and ate a La Scarola, a very charming Italian restaurant that has been a favorite of many, including Frank Sinatra!
The Underclassman went to Beverly Park to take part in the Movies in the Park series hosted by the public park system. They were able to see a screening of “Facing the Giants”. How cool is that?
