Greetings from Denali National Park! We are in the home stretch of Mission Choir Tour 2014, and it has been an incredible week of blessing. The past two days we have spent experiencing the majesty of this great state. With the exception of our hikes the week was primarily spent in the city of Anchorage, yesterday we got out of town and witnessed something else. This was the Alaska we had been waiting for. This was the Alaska that we have seen in pictures. It was astonishingly beautiful everywhere we looked. We drove to Chugach National Forest and took a cruise to see the Portage Glacier. We then went to a wildlife rescue where we saw muskox, caribou, elk, moose, black and brown bears. It was an Alaskan Safari.

After we came back to the city we checked into our hotel and cleaned up for dinner. The seniors went to the Sourdough Mining Company and the Underclassman went to Moose’s Tooth Pizza. Good times.

On Sunday morning we helped lead worship at First Baptist of Anchorage. The Chapel Singers did an amazing job, it was a real blessing for the congregation who recently lost their pastor and are in a position of transition to find their next shepherd.

After lunch we made the long journey to Denali. There is no way to adequately describe the profound splendor that we saw. It was spell-binding. The colors of the evergreens against the blue skies and white clouds set against the majestic mountain backdrop is something that I will cherish forever. Our pictures will never truly represent what we saw.

After we checked in we found a family owned restaurant that stayed open late to serve us. They were very kind and jovial people. It was a great way to end the day. Tomorrow’s big adventure will be white-water rafting, and from what we saw, it will be an adventure indeed!
